Rides for Saturday the 27th

Hey Group Riders,

This Saturday we're hosting 2 rides.

Mike and Dan will take out the beginner riders out Bear Creek and south on the Platte to Hudson Gardens and back. This route is about 23 miles and is relatively flat.

Brad and Will take the intermediate and advanced routes out on a 41 1/2 mile ride around the area: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/148075153
This route goes along the road and bike paths with some rollers. The group can split up into a fast group and an intermediate group following the same route so those riders wanting more miles at a 15-18mph pace can do so without the 20+ pace.

Ride for Saturday, October 13th

Hello Group Riders,

Tomorrow we'll be hosting one route - a 30ish mile ride out Belleview, around 470 trail, up Ken Caryl and down Deer Creek and around. This ride has some climbs in it. We'll go at a speed of recreational to intermediate. Come on a road bike and be ready to ride some where between 13-20 mph. We have enough ride leaders to be able to split into two groups for a fast group and a moderate speed group. Just be comfortable with the distance, the climbs, and averaging at least 13 mph.

The weather is looking iffy, and could very well change on us while out on the ride, so bring layers and be comfortable riding in wet conditions should it start sprinking on us.

As always, we meet at 9am and ride out at 9:30am.

See you there!

Ride for October 6th

Hi all, if the weather holds out, we'll be hosting one ride tomorrow - a recreational/intermediate ride. This ride is suited for road bikes, and will average 15 mph. Route will be determined tomorrow depending on the weather, but will be around 30-35 miles.

It will be cold! Please bundle up if you're coming, and be comfortable with winter riding conditions including road debris, ice/snow on the trail, changing weather conditions. This means different clothing, gloves, shoes, pants, head/ear covers, etc. You may want hand/foot warmers.

If you haven't ridden with us through the winter, we ride year round if the roads are clear and it isn't snowing/raining. We have done some COLD, sub-freezing temp rides, where we're the only people out on the trails and we LOVE it!

We will only post if the ride is CANCELLED, and that post will be on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/bicyclevillagesouthwest
Please check there if you're in doubt. As usual, we'll meet at 9am and ride at 9:30am.

Ride

Heppy Friday Group Riders!

Hope you've all enjoyed watching the USA PCC as much as we have - it's been an exciting race!

This weekend we've got a couple of different options for you.

Donna will take out another beginners group for a 15-20 mile. While we understand that some of you are apprehensive about riding on the street, the location of our shop is such that it does require some on road riding. By following safe riding practices (such as staying single file on the street, making your intentions know by signaling and lane position, and making eye contact with drivers), street riding can be safe and fun. We just need to remember that "Share the Road" goes both ways, and street riding is a natural part of cycling.

Dan will take out the intermediate riders on a 30ish ride counter clockwise on the 470 trail with a detour up en Caryl and down Deer Creek, through Chatfield and up the Platte. This is always a fun ride with some fast descents.

Brad will take the advanced riders on a 48ish mile ride down south through Chatfield to Sedalia and back. This is a new one for you all!

For those of you looking for a little adventure, our Boulder store will lead a group ride out for an easy 2 hour ride then stop to watch the USA PCC pass through and hang out. This should be a fun time if you're up for it!

All rides meet at 9am and ride out at 9:30am. Bring fluids, a spare tube and sunscreen and see you all in the morning.

Tomorrow is indoor cycling

The snow is keeping us inside tomorrow, so we're hosting indoor cycling instead. We'll start at 9:30am. Arrive with lots of fluids and a towel, as it's a great workout that will make you sweat!
As always, Saturdays are FREE!
Hope to see you there.

Too much snow!

Well, with the dumping we've gotten over the last 24 hours, there won't be a ride tomorrow. Hopefully it will be warm enough to melt some of this off for us to ride next Saturday.
Don't forget, Wednesday nights we have indoor cycling, now at 5:30pm. Be sure to take advantage of that - $6 for drop in, or get a punch card for $30/6 classes.

Friday, January 27, 2012

Indoor cycling for Saturday the 27th!

Hi there Group Riders!

Tomorrow we will host indoor cycling instead of an outdoor ride. I know some of you are saying "But, Jenn, it barely snowed at all! And it all melted this afternoon!" I know, I know, but it's really cold out, with overnight temps even lower which means all that melted snow will be a sheet of ice at 9:30am when we ride. Because we care about you all, and want you to have a safe and fun ride, we're bringing it indoors so that we can all still get a good workout in, socialize, and eat burritos, but not freeze or slip.

As usual, we will start the class at 9:30am. Arrive about 15 mins early to set your bike up on the trainer and get situated. Saturdays are FREE as usual!

Also, our Wednesday evening indoor cycling classes will now be starting at 5:30pm. Come down and join Rob for a great, mid-week workout! Cost is $6 for drop in, or get a punch card of 6 classes for $30 (that's one FREE!).

Hope to see you tomorrow morning, and bring a towel and lots of fluids!

Friday, January 20, 2012

Saturday, January 21st - TWO Rides!

Hey group riders. This weekend we've got two great rides planned for you. Both meet at 9am and leave at 9:30am, so be sure to arrive in time to check in and what not, and be ready to ride at 9:30.

Tom will be taking the recreational riders out to Chatfield and back, a nice ride of about 30 miles.

Justin will take the advanced riders out 470 and up to Golden - this ride has climbing and will keep a good pace.

Temps are looking to be in the upper 50s, but dress in layers for the morning start. As always, bring fluids and a snack for the ride, an extra tube, and check your bike over (tire pressure, lube your chain, wipe it down, etc.).

See you at 9am!

Friday, January 13, 2012

Group ride cancelled for January 14th

Hey everyone. Tomorrow's ride is cancelled due to the morning icy roads. We'll be back at it next Saturday. Hope to see you there!

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Happy 2012!

What gorgeous weather we're having - It's hard to believe it's the 5th of January! I hope you've been able to take advantage of it while we have it...I rode Tuesday and Today and it was great.

This Saturday, we're planning for 2 rides:
Beginner ride to REI and back (about 30 miles)
Intermediate ride to Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks (about 26 miles)
Both rides meet at 9am and roll out at 9:30am. The weather is really up in the air right now. Dress in layers, as it will indeed be cold if we're lucky enough to ride outside. If we can't we'll host indoor cycling, so bring a towel as it's a heck of a workout that will get you sweating (and why not start the year off with a good calorie burn? :) )

Hope you had a great holiday season, and wishing you a very happy and healthy 2012!
See you Saturday.
Jenn
