Saturday, March 26th, ride

What a weird weather week we've had! It's looking good for tomorrow, especially the morning, so we're riding and enjoying it before the rain.
We'll do the Rooney Road/Dinosaur Ridge climb then head into Red Rocks. For those who don't want to climb to the amphitheater, no problem - it's an up and back, so we can wait at the fork for the others to come back down. It's still early in the season, so no shame in taking a break at the base. Below is the route and elevation profile for the ride. It's going to be cool then warm to around 60, so dress in layers. This ride will warm you up! Don't forget, we roll out at 9:30am. See you all in the morning!

Ride recap

What a gorgeous ride we had yesterday! Perfect weather, minimal mechanical problems with a couple thrown chains (kudos to Mike for getting his back on while on the bike!), and the first climb up Ken Caryl for the year.
Below is the route map for the ride - sorry, I didn't have my phone to track speed/etc. Hope you all have a great week and see you Saturday.

Recap of today's ride

Wasn't it a great ride today? I was so happy to see all of you this morning, and glad those of you who've been busy were able to make it out. It was a perfect ride, no mechanical issues, and fabulous weather. It always feels good to get out and stretch the legs.

Group Ride for Sat. the 12th

What gorgeous weather we're having! I hate being cooped up inside an office all week long when it's so nice out - I'd much rather be out on the bike. It just makes our Saturday rides that much sweeter!!! It's supposed to be in the 60s the rest of this week and Saturday, which is just P-E-R-F-E-C-T riding weather.
I know last week's ride was a little challenging with the rolling hills that most of us haven't ridden on since maybe October, so this week we'll head out to REI along the Platte. This is always a fun ride, and a great way to ease back into the distances we'll be doing through the summer, as well as a chance to build up some speed in those winter legs. We'll roll out at 10:30am - with the higher temps, make sure you arrive prepared with fluids and some snacks (we can refuel at the Starbucks once we arrive at REI). Now is a great time to try some new energy bars, gels or chews to see how you respond to them before that big, organized ride you might be training for later this year; arrive a little early to check out our supply of snacks and pick up a few to test out.
We'll see you all on Saturday!

Group Ride - Saturday, March 5th

Well, fingers crossed, but it looks like we may get to ride tomorrow and have nice weather, too! It's 11am and I still don't see that snow they had predicted earlier in the week. If it does snow over night, check back here on the blog and the Facebook page to see if the ride has been cancelled. if it has, we now have trainers in the shop and can do a little spinning instead of outdoor riding. I'm thinking we'll do the reverse of this route:

We'll roll out at 10:30am, so arrive a few minutes before to check in, pump up your tires, and fill your water bottles. Hope to see you all there!

New partners and events!!

Bicycle Village is proud to announce two new partners - Mile High Multisport and Kids that Tri. Check out both of their websites to see all that they have to offer you or your children!

Additionally we are the sponsors of the following events:

Tour de Cure Woodland Park Ride (Colorado Springs) - May 14th
3rd Annual Healing Wheels Ride - June 11th
Tri for the Cure - August 6th
Tour de Cure - Longmont - August 20th
Deer Creek Challenge - August 21st

All the registration information can be found on our main page at www.bicyclevillage.com

And what better way to train for these events than with our Saturday group rides! If you've never ridden in an organized ride or race, group rides are the perfect place to learn about riding with other riders. It can be intimidating the first time you go out and have 100s or 1000s of people around you all on bikes. Ease into it by riding with friends or make new ones by riding with us! If you're a slower rider, riding in a group will encourage you to ride faster as you'll be keeping up with the other riders - it's easy to slow down and just go your own pace when you're riding alone, so let us help!

Organized rides can be a fun way to reach a new goal, and gives you the motivation to get out there and ride, so take advantage of one of these opportunities!
