The last ride(s) of the year!

It's hard to believe the new year is upon us! I hope you've all had a great holiday season, but it's time to start burning off some of those holiday treats. The weather has been generous with the sun, and the snow is melting, so we're offering TWO rides for this Saturday.

The first will be an intermediate ride going up Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks - always a fun and challenging 26 mile ride.

The second will be a "fat tire" ride through Bear Creek Park. Bring out the mountain, cruiser, commuter, or cross bikes and let's cruise through the park. This ride is about 19 miles long.

Both rides are FREE and meet at 9am and ride out at 9:30am. Dress in layers, bring fluids, and an extra tube, check over your bike, and be ready to ride! Hope to see you there, and if not, have a healthy and prosperous 2012!

Group Ride for Saturday, December 17th

We're going to attempt a ride tomorrow. It's been chilly all week, and there's still some areas of snow on the ground, so we're going to stick to roads/trails that are in the sun and melted. We''ll head out Belleview to the 470 trail, and south around through Chatfield, and up the Platte and around. It's going to be cold in the morning when we start, so bumdle up in layers and be prepared to pull some off as you warm up. A moisture wicking, quick drying base layer is a must on cold rides, as you need something to pull the sweat off your body so you don't get overly cold when we stop or ride down hills. A wind breaker will also help with the down hills.

Don't forget to bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated - often we forget to drink in the cold, and can easily dehydrate. Remember to take a couple of sips every 15 minutes or so, and when we stop at intersections.

A good set of gloves and warm socks can make or break your ride. The fingers and toes can get painfully cold making it next to impossible to shift or brake, and just leads to a miserable ride.

With the proper clothing, winter rides are a lot of fun. We've often had the trails all to ourselves during the winter months, and it's nice to not have all that traffic to worry about.

Remember, we meet at 9am and ride out at 9:30am. Hope to see you there!

Jenn

PS - Don't forget the other stuff we have going on at Bicycle Village:

Indoor Cycling Class: Wednesday evenings at 6pm - $6 per class, or buy a punch card for $30 and 6 classes!

Bicycle Maintenance classes: Beginning Maintenance every Monday at 6pm; Advance Maintenance the 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 6pm - these classes are FREE!

See you there!

November 26th ride

Hope you all had a great holiday yesterday. It was beautiful outside, so of course I had to start the day with a bike ride. Can't believe it was nearly 70 degrees! The Highline was packed full of people biking, jogging and walking - anything to take advantage of the weather.
Tomorrow is looking to be a bit chilly, but the roads will be clear so we ride. Make sure you bundle up appropriately for your comfort level, wearing layers to strip away once you warm up. We'll be hosting a recreational/intermediate ride out to REI and back, so bring some cash if you want to get a beverage or snack at the Starbucks once we arrive there. This is always a fun ride, and we vary the pace depending on the riders to make this a stroll or a race! No matter what your pace is, there's always someone else that rides the same speed, so you're never alone. Come down and join us!
As always, we meet at 9am and leave at 930am. Hope to see ya there!

November 19th rideS

Yes, that's RIDES as in two rides tomorrow! The weather is looking good for this time of year, and what better way to kick off the holiday week than with a bike ride. Start burning those calories early!

Jenn will take the recreational riders out Belleview to the 470 trail south and around through Chatfield, and up the Platte back to the shop. This ride is always a fun one with that sweet downhill from Ken Caryl to Kipling. This is about a 33 mile loop.

Scott will take the intermediate riders out through Bear Creek, and up Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks, before coming back down through Morrison and back. If you're looking for some climbing, this 25 mile ride is for you.

Both rides meet at 9am and head out at 9:30am. Be sure you check over your bike to make sure it's in proper working order, tires in good condition and properly inflated, and that you have a spare tube. Dress in layers as it's supposed to be chilly in the morning, warming as the day progresses.

Hope to see you all there!

November 10th rides

The temps are looking good for tomorrow, but it might be a bit windy! Be sure to dress according to your comfort level and come join us on one of two rides.

We'll host a recreational/intermediate ride out Bear Creek and down the Platte into Chatfield. This is about a 33 mile ride, relatively flat with hill climbs at the dam and back towards the shop.

The advanced riders will go out on a route to be determined tomorrow morning - what do you want to do? Climb, or get in some miles? Justin will be taking suggestions on what you guys want to do.

Both rides meet at 9am and head out 9:30am. Check your bike over, and have every thing you need to be ready to roll out at 9:30am.

See you all there :)

First November rides

I can't believe it's already November! Watching the weather report right now, and it's looking promising for our rides tomorrow.

We'll have a recreational ride that goes out to REI and back, and an intermediate ride on a route TBD depending on who comes out.

Both rides meet at 9am and depart at 9:30am, so be ready to go at that time. It looks like there is a possibility of passing showers, but it's not likely. It will still be cold - dress accordingly in layers so you stay dry and warm. Don't forget group riders get a discount at the shop on Ssturdays they ride, so take that opportunity to get anything you may need!

If the weather is such that we can't ride, we have trainers in the shop and will do a spin class instead - no excuse to now get a ride in tomorrow :)

Hope to see you there!

Ride for Saturday the 29th

The weather is looking promising for tomorrow. We'll be hosting one ride, an intermediate ride up Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks. We will meet at 9am and depart at 9:30am. It will be cold, so dress appropriately in layers to stay comfortable throughout the ride. Even though it's cold, you still need to stay hydrated, so make sure you bring enough to drink and remember to take sips while riding.
Route:

Sunday will be our last of our Sunday Social Rides of the season (Saturday rides are year round!). Come down to Tony's to get one last fun ride in before winter. We meet at 9 and ride at 9:30am. These rides will start again next spring.

Friday, October 21, 2011

2 rides Saturday and one on Sunday

It's looking to be another gorgeous fall weekend, so we're hosting 3 rides.

Saturday, we have an intermediate ride going up Ken Caryl, down Deer Creek and around. This is always a nice ride, and about 34 miles long.

Justin will take the advanced riders out on a route to be determined depending on who wants to go. He always challenges those who go with him, so if you're looking to be pushed, check it out!

Sunday will be the social ride out of Tony's on Bowles. Last Sunday we had a great ride with 6 people! Come for a nice relaxing cruise, and some tasty treats from Tony's.

All rides meet at 9am and leave at 9:30am. Be sure you check your bike over before the ride and be ready to go at 9:30am.

So, take advantage of this weather, and come on down for a ride! :)

Today's ride is cancelled!

I can't believe I'm posting this in October!!! We didn't cancel a single ride last winter because of snow, and I'm already doing it.
The ground is warm, though, and nothing is sticking in the street, so come join us tomorrow at Tony's if it's clear.

Friday, October 7, 2011

October 8th ride - fingers crossed for dry weather!!!

The news isn't making it sounds promising, but fingers crossed that it will be dry for our ride tomorrow.

We'll head out Bear Creek to the Platte Trail and down into Chatfield. We'll climb the dam then head back the way we came. Whether it rains or not, it's looking to be chilly so dress appropriate, wear a moisture wicking base layer or jersey, and have water resistant jacket or rain coat. For you new riders who don't have cycling specific rain gear, a bit of advice to make your ride more comfortable - make sure whatever you bring has vents and/or is breathable so you don't overheat. If it's keeps water out, it keeps your body heat in and even though it's supposed to be in the 40's and 50's tomorrow, you'll heat up really fast when your body heat and sweat can't escape and evaporate. If you have a jacket where the sleeves zip off making it a vest, you may be able to open those up to vent it. I just want you guys to be comfortable and learn from my mistakes :)

Think about your feet, too, and don't wear cotton socks. If they get wet, you'll be miserable. Think about wet feet moving around inside a cycling shoe - not pretty! Wear something quick drying like the socks Smartwool makes.

Dress in layers so you can adjust as the weather changes. Arm warms might look and sound funny, but they work really well for adjusting your layers quickly in changing temps.

Check your bike over to make sure it's in proper working order - look over your tires and check the tread and for any spots of wear that could blow out. Air up to the proper inflation to avoid unnecessary flats from underinflation. Wipe down your bike and check for anything out of the ordinary, large scratches or dents that could be indicative of a greater problem, any rust, etc. Lube your chain and check out your brakes. Do this at home or arrive at the shop at 9am when we open if you need help or have questions so that we can leave at 9:30am.

For those fearing the tomorrow's weather, we have a ride on Sunday out of Tony's on Bowles. We also meet at 9am and leave at 9:30am. So come check that out if you can't ride on Saturday.

Hope to see you guys there!

The first ride of October!

I can't believe it's already October! You'd never know it by these high temps we're having. The mornings have been gorgeous, and what better way to spend it than on a bike. The trees are starting to change colors, and this week we're going to take a ride out along the Highline to check them out. This ride is just under 31 miles, and relatively flat. The Highline is gravel this far south, so if you're going on this ride, please make sure you're comfortable riding on gravel on your road bike, swap out tires, or bring a hybrid or mountain bike. This won't be a fast ride - we're out to enjoy the beauty of the fall.

For those who want to stick to the road, we'll also host an intermediate road ride.

Rides meet at 9:00am and leave at 9:30am. If you're pulling out a bike you haven't ridden in a while, take a minute to dust it off and check it over to make sure your tires and tubes are good, your chain is lubed, etc. If you need anything, arrive at the shop at 9am in order to get it and change it or have the mechanics help you out. Remember, group riders get a discount on Saturdays, too :)

Don't forget, we also have Sunday social rides now out of Tony's on Bowles. These rides are for anyone/everyone, so come on down for a relaxing ride and some conversation. Sunday rides also meet at 9am and leave at 9:30am.

September 24-25 rides

What gorgeous fall weather we're having! This weekend is looking to be just as great. Come join us Saturday and/or Sunday for a ride.

Saturday we'll be going out to Ken Caryl and down Deer Creek and around. This is about 31.5 miles, and always a fun ride. Here is the route:

Sunday is our social ride out of Tony's Market on Bowles. 7421 W. Bowles Ave.

This ride is for anyone and everyone, all skill levels, just a casual ride of around 10 miles or so. Riders will receive a discount at Tony's if you wish to buy anything after the ride, or refuel on a tasty breakfast burrito or other treat!

Both rides meet at 9:00am and depart promptly at 9:30am.

Also, the trees are starting to change colors. Fall is always a beautiful time to ride and take in nature. Next weekend we'll do a ride along the Highline to enjoy the trees. A large section of this ride will be on the gravel trail part of the Highline. If you aren't comfortable on your road bike off the pavement, bring a hybrid, mountain, or cross bike to ride. We'll take it slow and just enjoy the view.

Don't forget to bring an extra tube or two, water, and snacks, and this time of year layers are a must. Hope to see you all this weekend!

Group rides for this weekend

Hello Group Riders! Tomorrow we're hosting one ride out to REI and back. The weather is looking to be great. Even though it's cooler than we're used to, make sure you bring fluids to stay hydrated. Don't forget a spare tube and any snacks you want, or arrive early enough to get what you need. Remember, we leave the shop at 9:30am, so get there early enough to unload your bike, check-in and check your tire pressure, and be ready to roll at 9:30am.

Sunday will be our second social ride out of Tony's Market on Bowles just east of Wadsworth next to the Bed, Bath and Beyond. It also meets at 9am and rolls out at 9:30am. Last week we had a fun time just cruising around, and enjoyed Tony's tasty burritos after the ride. Riders will also get 10% of their purchase at Tony's if you want anything to take home. Bring the kids on this one!

Hope to see you at one or both of these rides!

Group rides for this weekend - Saturday AND Sunday

Yes, you read that correctly, we'll have group rides both Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday we'll have a recreational ride and an advanced ride. The recreational riders will head Bear Creek to the Platte and down into Chatfield. After climbing the dam, we'll head back the same way, and make a pit stop at Hudson Gardens.

The advanced riders are really kicking it up a notch this week. If you've been riding all summer and getting those centuries and what not in, this is the ride for you! Justin will be taking the group out to Echo Lake via Squaw Pass. The route is Belleview to 470 to Bear Creek Rd/Evergreen Pkwy to Squaw Pass road up to Echo and back. It should be around 80 to 85 miles.

The weather is looking excellent, a fabulous fall day to ride!

They will also have coffee and water at the beginning of the ride.

Two Group Rides for tomorrow, the 3rd

Wow! I can't believe it's already September, and Labor Day weekend at that! It was a nice end to August with the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, and I personally enjoyed it volunteering at both the Stage 5 Finish in Breckenridge, and Stage 6 in Denver. What a fabulous way to promote our state and cycling!

This weekend we'll be hosting two group rides. The recreational group will head out Belleview to the 470 trail, down and around to the Platte, and back up to Bear Creek and across This is a fun loop to do, about 33 miles with rolling hills.

Our second ride will be lead by the IC3 group, and will go out to Lookout Mountain and back. This is a 40 mile no drop ride. If you fall behind, everyone will meet back up at the Dinosaur Lot Park-n-ride on the way back.

Both rides leave promptly at 9:30am, so be sure to arrive early to fill out a waiver if you haven't ridden with us, pump up your tires, and get any snacks you need to. It's looking like a beautiful day, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all there! What better way to start off the long weekend than by burning off some calories before those BBQs? :)

The recreational riders will head out Bear Creek Trail to the Platte Trail, and go south into Chatfield. After climbing the dam road, we'll head back the way we came. This is a relatively flat ride along the river with a modest climb up the dam at the mid way point, and another climb at the end to get back to the shop.

Ride for Saturday, August 6th

Wow! I just type "August" - can't believe it's already August!
Tomorrow we'll be hosting one recreational/intermediate ride up to Red Rocks. This ride takes us through Bear Creek Park, then up Alameda and Dinosaur Ridge where we'll drop down into Red Rocks. We'll ride over to the Amphitheatre and those who want to can climb up to the top. For you beginners, you don't have to go up there - it's an up and back down the same way, so you can wait at the base in the lot. We'll head through the park to Morrison Road, and head back to the shop. It's about 25 miles with some decent climbs.
We will leave at 9:30am, so arrive a few early to check your tire pressure, fill your water bottles, and get any snacks or tubes that you may need. It's supposed to be a hot one, and this ride is a workout, so bring lots to rehydrate with! And don't forget the sunscreen :)
See you in the morning.

Wow! The end of July is here already! Take advantage of the summer weather and join us for one of our no drop group rides.

The advanced riders will head out that way then continue up Highgrade.

All rides leave promptly at 9:30am. Bring lots to drink and sunscreen.
See you there!

Friday, July 22, 2011

Ride for Saturday the 23rd

Tomorrow is looking to be around a cool 93 degrees - not quite as hot as today should be! We're running one ride tomorrow, a recreational ride to REI with an option for the intermediate riders to extend it by going out and around Sloan's Lake and back while the recreational riders chat at REI.
This is a great ride for those newer to cycling who are looking to increase their miles - a relatively flat 33+ mile ride with a nice place to rest before heading back.
The regular intermediate riders know this is a great ride to work on maintaining speed, with an easy extension around Sloan's to add some more miles.
We'll all regroup back at REI and head back to the shop.
Ride leaves promptly at 9:30am, so arrive early to check in, and sign a waiver if you haven't already. Bring plenty of fluids, but remember we will be able to refill at REI. Don't forget the sunscreen and extra tubes/air.
See you in the morning!

Rides for Saturday, July 16th - Recreational and Advanced

What crazy monsoon weather we're having! I was fortunate enough to get a ride in yesterday evening after work, and missed the storm by a good 2 minutes! Then the down pour started.....

Saturday is looking to be dry, and fortunately, the mornings have been nice if not down right hot! This weekend, we'll host a recreational ride out to REI and back, a nice 34 miler that's relatively flat. This is a no-drop ride, which means we wait for everyone to catchup at the intersections, and try to stay together. This is meant to be a fun, casual ride for anyone and everyone!

The advanced group will head out to Golden via 470 trail and climb Lookout Mountain before returning to the shop. This ride is not for the faint of heart. The distance is long, the pace fast, and the climbs are decent.

Both rides leave promptly at 9:30am. Arrive a bit early to check in, look over your bike, and to pickup any tubes or snacks you may need for the ride. There's a pump inside the front of the store for those who need to check their tire pressure before heading out. If you need anything else, ask one of our staff members - they're there to help whether you need your saddle adjusted or help picking out some summer gloves or tubes.

For everyone's enjoyment, please select a ride that matches your ability. Nothing ruins what should be a fun time by getting into something you aren't ready for, out "in the middle of nowhere", and having to call for a pick-up. If you aren't sure which ride you should do, ask one of your group riders - be honest with us and yourself, and you'll have a great ride!

I'm looking forward to morning ride!! See you all Saturday :)

July 9th rides

Hope no one floated away yesterday! The weather for tomorrow is looking to have the usual afternoon showers, so I think we're safe for morning rides.

The Beginner ride will head out for a loop around Bear Creek Park. This is a 19 mile ride:

The Intermediate ride will head out Belleview to the 470 trail to tackle Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks:

While the rain cools it off some, it's supposed to be in the 90s so make sure you bring plenty of fluids for the ride. As usual, we roll out promptly at 9:30am, so arrive early to check in.

Friday, July 1, 2011

Rides for Saturday, July 2nd

Can you believe it's already July??? I know I'm looking forward to a three day weekend. With all the BBQs and activities this weekend, why not start the weekend off with a bike ride to burn off some calories before consuming more? :)

This week we will host a recreational ride and an advanced ride.

The recreational ride will be a 30 mile counterclockwise loop to the 470 trail, up the Platte, and across the Bear Creek trail back to the shop:

The advanced ride will be a 45 mile ride out the Platte to the Cherry Creek trail and back across Dartmouth:

It's looking hot for tomorrow, so make sure you hydrate well beforehand and bring plenty of fluids with you. We leave at 9:30am, so make sure you're there by 9:15 to check in and what not.

Looking forward to riding tomorrow, and see you all there!

Rides for Saturday the 25th

What a hot Friday it is! And tomorrow is looking to be just as hot.
We've got two rides planned for tomorrow - a 20 mile recreational ride through Bear Creek, and a 50 mile advanced ride up to Highgrade with International Christian Cycling Club - Colorado Spoke.

Both rides leave the shop at 9:30am - be sure to arrive early to check your air pressure, fill your water bottles, and get any snacks you'll need. With the heat, you want to make sure you hydrate well and have plenty to refuel with out on the ride.

The recreational ride route is:

The advanced ride head up High Grade to Pleasant Park and over to North Turkey Creek, then back down Deer Creek. This is a great opportunity to get in some climbing and miles. The advanced ride may also split into two groups - a fast group and a not so fast group, so if don't worry about not being the fastest rider. Route below:

Saturday, June 18th - intermediate ride

***UPDATE***
Everyone, there is a slight change in plans. We're only doing one ride tomorrow, the intermediate ride to REI. Sorry for the change. We'll see you tomorrow!
Jenn

Hello group riders! Tomorrow's weather is looking to be nice, though maybe a little humid. Be sure to put on sunscreen (even if there are clouds), bring fluids, and check over your bike.

We have two rides planned. The intermediate ride will go out to REI and back, about 33 miles round trip. This ride is relatively "flat", so you beginners looking to increase your mileage without worrying about climbs, this is the ride to do that!!

Maintenance: This is the riding season!! If you've been out taking advantage of the weather and riding a lot, it's easy to get busy. Checking over your bike and cleaning it can often take a backseat to riding. But maintenance is an important aspect to riding. Nothing ruins a ride faster than a broken chain or a flat tire, especially if it could have been avoided. Take a couple of minutes to look over your bike, wipe it down to check for any cracks, look over your tires for wear or thorns, lube your chain and check for any stretch, and make sure your brakes are in good working order. If you're constantly losing a lot of air from your tires, even if they aren't going completely flat, it might be time for new tubes - think about when you changed them last. It's better to change them in your garage when you've got everything you need, than having to do it on the trail because of a pinch flat. Is you shifting not as smooth as it used to be? It could be that change or maybe some stretch in your cables. Simple adjustments can make a huge difference and prolong the life of your equipment and parts avoiding a costly repair later. You spend a lot of time on your bike, and it gives a lot without asking for much in return. Show it some love! If you need help, we have free maintenance classes on Monday nights at 6pm. Take advantage of them - they'll help to keep you on the road riding instead of waiting for parts.

Two rides for tomorrow!

Tomorrow we'll be offering two rides - a beginner ride and an intermediate ride.

The intermediate ride will be held with the International Christian Cycling Club - Colorado Spoke group and will head out to Deer Creek and back, about 26 miles. Don’t be fooled by the mileage. There is some climbing involved which will make if feel like a little bit more.

See link below for detailed ride info.

http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/36705442

For the beginner ride, we'll head out to Hudson Gardens and back. This is a nice, 17+ mile ride with a pit stop at Hudson to refuel and relax.

Saturday - June 4

We leave at 9:30am so make sure you're there early and be ready to ride out at 9:30am.
See you there!

Tomorrow's Ride

I'm finally able to get back into blogger! It's been down most of this week, so I was unable to post.
Tomorrow's ride will take us out to REI and back. This is always a great ride, and usually above any "flood zones" that we may otherwise encounter on the 470 trail. This ride is about 33 miles, and is an out and back with a pit stop at the Starbucks at REI. The route map with elevation profile is below. Be sure you're ready to ride at 9:30am, which means arriving a few minutes early to unload your bike, gear up, fill your water bottles and purchase any supplies or snacks you need before we depart. The weather is looking promising for the morning, so fingers crossed that the rain will indeed hold off until we get back!
Hope to see you all there!

April showers.....

What a great ride we had last weekend! We made some good time, too, with an overall average speed of 15mph for the whole ride. Mark, I hope those tribars are starting to feel more natural for you :)
This week, we'll head out to REI and back - depending on the weather.....every time I check the reports, it says something different, rain or sun? maybe rain in the afternoon....at any rate, it wasn't bad this morning, so even if we get a light sprinkling on Friday evening, we'll ride on Saturday. If you have a question, check here on the blog or the Facebook page.
Hope to see you all Saturday!

Saturday, April 9th - we ride!!

The weather is looking good for tomorrow, though we may fight some wind. Let's do the C470 loop, and maybe go up Ken Caryl and down Deer Creek - that's always a nice ride!
See you all in the morning - be ready to roll at 9:30am!

April 2nd Group Ride Details

Tomorrow is looking to be nice but windy - hope it's not as bad as last Saturday up on Red Rocks. To try to avoid some of it, we'll shoot up the Platte to REI - maybe the trees will give us some shelter!!!
Don't forget to wear sunscreen, bring lots of fluids, and see you all tomorrow at 9:30am!

Saturday, March 26th, ride

What a weird weather week we've had! It's looking good for tomorrow, especially the morning, so we're riding and enjoying it before the rain.
We'll do the Rooney Road/Dinosaur Ridge climb then head into Red Rocks. For those who don't want to climb to the amphitheater, no problem - it's an up and back, so we can wait at the fork for the others to come back down. It's still early in the season, so no shame in taking a break at the base. Below is the route and elevation profile for the ride. It's going to be cool then warm to around 60, so dress in layers. This ride will warm you up! Don't forget, we roll out at 9:30am. See you all in the morning!

Ride recap

What a gorgeous ride we had yesterday! Perfect weather, minimal mechanical problems with a couple thrown chains (kudos to Mike for getting his back on while on the bike!), and the first climb up Ken Caryl for the year.
Below is the route map for the ride - sorry, I didn't have my phone to track speed/etc. Hope you all have a great week and see you Saturday.

Group Ride for Sat. the 12th

What gorgeous weather we're having! I hate being cooped up inside an office all week long when it's so nice out - I'd much rather be out on the bike. It just makes our Saturday rides that much sweeter!!! It's supposed to be in the 60s the rest of this week and Saturday, which is just P-E-R-F-E-C-T riding weather.
I know last week's ride was a little challenging with the rolling hills that most of us haven't ridden on since maybe October, so this week we'll head out to REI along the Platte. This is always a fun ride, and a great way to ease back into the distances we'll be doing through the summer, as well as a chance to build up some speed in those winter legs. We'll roll out at 10:30am - with the higher temps, make sure you arrive prepared with fluids and some snacks (we can refuel at the Starbucks once we arrive at REI). Now is a great time to try some new energy bars, gels or chews to see how you respond to them before that big, organized ride you might be training for later this year; arrive a little early to check out our supply of snacks and pick up a few to test out.
We'll see you all on Saturday!

Group Ride - Saturday, March 5th

Well, fingers crossed, but it looks like we may get to ride tomorrow and have nice weather, too! It's 11am and I still don't see that snow they had predicted earlier in the week. If it does snow over night, check back here on the blog and the Facebook page to see if the ride has been cancelled. if it has, we now have trainers in the shop and can do a little spinning instead of outdoor riding. I'm thinking we'll do the reverse of this route:

We'll roll out at 10:30am, so arrive a few minutes before to check in, pump up your tires, and fill your water bottles. Hope to see you all there!

New partners and events!!

Bicycle Village is proud to announce two new partners - Mile High Multisport and Kids that Tri. Check out both of their websites to see all that they have to offer you or your children!

Additionally we are the sponsors of the following events:

Tour de Cure Woodland Park Ride (Colorado Springs) - May 14th
3rd Annual Healing Wheels Ride - June 11th
Tri for the Cure - August 6th
Tour de Cure - Longmont - August 20th
Deer Creek Challenge - August 21st

All the registration information can be found on our main page at www.bicyclevillage.com

And what better way to train for these events than with our Saturday group rides! If you've never ridden in an organized ride or race, group rides are the perfect place to learn about riding with other riders. It can be intimidating the first time you go out and have 100s or 1000s of people around you all on bikes. Ease into it by riding with friends or make new ones by riding with us! If you're a slower rider, riding in a group will encourage you to ride faster as you'll be keeping up with the other riders - it's easy to slow down and just go your own pace when you're riding alone, so let us help!

Organized rides can be a fun way to reach a new goal, and gives you the motivation to get out there and ride, so take advantage of one of these opportunities!

Come on down and ride today!

It's a gorgeous day and we've got a great ride planned for you. A nice and relatively flat 32miles to REI and back. It's supposed to snow tomorrow so let's enjoy the sun while it's shining! See you all at 10:30am.

Ride Route for tomorrow - Saturday the 12th

What better way to kick off the Valentine's weekend than by riding with your sweetie! Come join us on a group ride from the shop out to Bear Creek Park and back. The ride is about 27 miles along the Bear Creek Trail.
We roll out at 10:30am - arrive about 15 minutes earlier to check in, air up, and stock up on any needed supplies.
Hope to see you all!

The sun is shining!!

And I'm hoping it really warms up like they say it's supposed to and melts some of this ice. Keep an eye on the blog and Facebook for a ride this Saturday. It's not supposed to get really warm until Friday/Saturday, so the roads and trails may be a bit treacherous. We'll play it by ear, and may head down to Bear Creek like I talked about for last week.
Hope to see you all!

GROUP RIDE CANCELLED TODAY...

Due to the icy conditions yesterday's rain made, the group ride is cancelled for today. Hope to see you all next Saturday - fingers crossed for sun and warmer temps this week!!!

Who wants to ride this Saturday????

Good Morning Group Riders! What a chilly, CHILLY week it has been. But, we're already at 20 for the day, and I hear it's supposed to be 50 tomorrow, 40s on Saturday. It didn't really snow all that much, and most of it around here has already melted. I'm hopeful the trails and roads will be clear enough to ride. I'm thinking that we may take the mountain bikes out to Bear Creek and ride around there - what do you all think and who's planning on coming out Saturday??

Is it really January?

I cant believe it! What a beautiful week we've had. It's supposed to be near 60 today and mid 50s tomorrow, perfect riding weather! Fingers crossed that it isn't as windy as it was last Saturday and we'll do the 470 loop, approximately 34 miles of rolling hills. Come out and take advantage of the weather while we've got it! We leave the shop at 10:30, so arrive a few minutes early to check your bike over, bring fluids and a snack, and let's ride!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Ride Today!!!

The weather is looking good, so we'll do the C470 loop today. It's a nice, rolling, 32 mile ride. Be ready to ride at 10:30am - see you there!!

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Great way to start the year

Boy, did we luck out! Outside of a few mishaps, we couldn't have asked for a better day to ride, much less in January!!

I was happy to see so many people today, too, and three new riders. Here are some pics from today - link to the others at the end of this post. Thanks to everyone who came out.

Happy 2011!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and a great new year's. If you're like me, you haven't been on the bike since our last ride before Christmas, and I know I'm going through withdrawals!

Let's start the year off with good health/fitness habits by getting back in that saddle and riding on Saturday. The weather is looking to be in the 40's the rest of the week, including Saturday, so I'm hopeful what's left of the snow/ice will be melted by ride time. I'm still thinking about putting my 'cross tires on the bike just to be safe.

Since it's been a couple of weeks since we've ridden, and most of us are only riding on Saturdays, we'll take it easy by heading up to REI and back. That's always a nice, relatively "flat" and easy 32 miles, and a great way to keep with any New Year's resolutions or goals you may have made about fitness, weight loss, or miles for the year.

See you all Saturday - be ready to ride out at 10:30am.
